PhD students met industrial partners in Germany

November 16, 2023

AMBER PhD students from Morocco and Germany embarked on a significant educational trip on November 9th and 10th, 2023. They visited German industry partners involved in the AMBER project to learn from leading experts in biogas production and analysis.
During their visit, they toured Awite, a prominent company specializing in designing biogas measurement and analysis equipment. This provided valuable insights into the evolution of gas analysis tools, scientific principles behind sensor technologies, and a firsthand look at the manufacturing and testing processes. This was followed by a tour of Bioenergie Lohhuber GMBH & Co KG, Eching, where they were taken through a biogas plant producing biogas for Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems from maize-, grass silage, and chicken manure.
On the second day, they visited Snow Leopard Projects, a consulting firm specializing in design and construction of biogas plants globally. The visit culminated in an enriching tour led by the founder of the company to an innovative biogas plant in Großköllnbach, Pilsting. This plant, boasting a 1000 kW CHP capacity, demonstrated the utilization of unique two-stage digester technology for processing challenging materials, highlighting advancements in biogas technology.
The visits provided a valuable opportunity for the PhD students to exchange knowledge and experience with the German project partners and biogas experts. Therefore, enriching their research pursuits in exploring the potential of biogas technologies for sustainable energy production and environmental protection in Morocco. It stands as a testament to the project’s dedication to innovation, education, and fostering collaborative partnerships, promising a brighter future for Morocco’s biogas sector.
