Advancing to Biomethane Potential Research: New Phase in the AMBER Project

Our research activities under the AMBER project entered a new phase this past month. Joshua Ngetuny joined the other PhDs in Morocco between April 22 and May 6, 2024, to prepare for biomethane potential tests using substrates available in the Fes-Meknes region. This follows a survey completed in December 2023, aimed at identifying and quantifying potential biodigester substrates in the region, and the acquisition of state-of-the-art biogas potential test equipment at AUI.
During the two-week research stay, the team collected substrate samples from the farm at ENA, Meknes and carried out their characterization. Concurrently, they set up and prepared the AMPTS equipment for the experiments. The aim of these experiments is to determine the optimal mixing ratios of livestock manure and crop wastes for efficient biogas production. We look forward to analyzing the results and contributing to the development of Morocco’s biogas sector.
